Autumn is my favourite season in Switzerland. The freshness in the air, the colours are amazing and if you are lucky then you could catch a beautiful sunny autumn day.

Last year I had such a lovely day. I went to the nature reserve peninsula called Au, ZH located approximately 16km south of Zurich between Horgen and Wädenswil. On arrival you immediately see Au’s vineyards. There is also a wine museum and a country hotel. At first I went past the vineyards for a walk until I reached the small park. They’ve set up benches and speakers so that the visitors could enjoy the breathtaking view of Lake Zurich while listening to some classical music. This was marvelous and it made me feel like I was on holiday. After that I walked past the country hotel to the vineyards. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to see the wine museum or to go for a meal in the country hotel’s restaurant. The museum is open every Sunday from 14.00hrs to 16.00hrs from beginning of April until end of October, see (in German)
www.weinbaumuseum.ch. The country hotel seems quite nice and it has an English website. If you are interested see www.halbinselau.ch. Au definitely makes for a nice short trip out. I hope you will enjoy this autumn’s colourful beauty.
